1355 Players Register For IPL Auction, Only Two Indians Set Highest Base Price – Green In, Maxwell Out: Report

After the player registration deadline for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction on Sunday (November 30), it has emerged that an incredible number of 1355 players have registered for this year’s bidding wars for the world’s richest cricket league, which will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. As per ESPN Cricinfo and Cricbuzz , among the biggest names up for grabs, Cameron Green’s name stands out, easing concerns of franchises ahead of his packed calendar.
The Australian all-rounder, who missed out on the mega auction due to an injury, is one of 43 overseas players whose names have been registered their name in the highest base price of Rs. 2 crore.
Australian cricket legend Steve Smith, who has not found a buyer since the 2022 season, has also registered. His international teammate Josh Inglis has also put his name forward despite being released by Punjab Kings (PBKS) due to availability issues, as per Ricky Ponting. It has been reported that he is getting married this year and will be available for just 25% of the season.
Who Are The Biggest Indian Players?
Only two Indian players have registered their names in the two crore base price category, which are Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi. Venkatesh was sold for Rs. 23.75 crore last year’s mega auction to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) while Bishnoi was retained by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs. 14 crore. Both were released last month by their franchise.
Among other big Indian players that will go up for grabs will be Umesh Yadav, Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan, who went unsold last year. Akash Deep, Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda, and Mayank Agarwal will look to find a team post their release.
The Big Names Missing
Glenn Maxwell is a notable name missing after being a regular in the IPL for over a decade, having played for four franchises.
Faf du Plessis, Andre Russell, and Moeen Ali are not part of the list after announcing their decision on social media earlier.
IPL 2026 Auction
