Dancer Saurabh Sharma Dies In Drowning Accident On Ritesh Deshmukh’s ‘Raja Shivaji’ Set
A 26-year-old background dancer, identified as Saurabh Sharma, tragically drowned in the Krishna river from the sets of Bollywood actor Ritesh Deshmukh’s historical film Raja Shivaji near Sangam Mahuli village in Maharashtra’s Satara district,around 250km from Mumbai.
His body, missing for two days, was finally recovered on Thursday morning. According to media sources, the incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, April 29. The cast and crew were wrapping up the shoot of a song sequence. Saurabh hands had gotten stained with color during the shoot, went near the riverbank to clean himself and according to the eye witness suggests that he may have stepped further into the river to take a bath but due to the river’s strong current he was swept away.
Ritesh Deshmukh, along with his wife and film producer Genelia Deshmukh and choreographer Remo D’Souza, were present at the location and took immediate steps to inform the authorities and assist in the rescue operations.
Despite rescue efforts over the next two days involving drones and local administration teams, his body was only found on Thursday morning. The tragedy has left his family devastated. For now, filming for Raja Shivaji has been put on hold.
