Karnataka Weather Alert: Karnataka Weather Alert: As Bengaluru heads into peak summer, unexpected showers brought temporary relief to residents in several neighbourhoods, including Kammanahalli Main Road, Mariyappa Road, HRBR Layout, Kalyan Nagar, and Banaswadi.
The unseasonal drizzle offered a break from the heat and dust, delighting many across the city.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several parts of Karnataka are likely to witness more rain over the next two days, accompanied by gusty winds.
On May 1, light rain or thundershowers are expected at one or two places in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts in coastal Karnataka, while Uttara Kannada is likely to remain dry. In north interior Karnataka, districts like Haveri, Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Gadag, Raichur, and Koppal may see light rain or thundershowers with gusty winds ranging from 50 to 60 kmph, with dry weather likely elsewhere in the region.
Meanwhile, in south interior Karnataka, districts such as Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, Mysuru, and Ramanagara could see light to moderate rainfall with winds between 30 and 40 kmph. Light rain is also forecast in Tumakuru, Kolar, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chitradurga, Shivamogga, and Chikkaballapura.

Looking ahead to May 2, the IMD predicts light to moderate showers across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, with some rain also expected in Uttara Kannada. Belagavi, Haveri, Dharwad, Gadag, and Koppal districts in north interior Karnataka may receive light rainfall along with gusty winds reaching up to 50 kmph.
In south interior Karnataka, all districts are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds in the 40 to 50 kmph range.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast:
Over the next five days, Bengaluru is expected to witness a mix of partly cloudy skies and intermittent rain. On Day 1 and Day 2, residents can expect partly cloudy conditions with light rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph. From Day 3 to Day 5, the intensity of rainfall is likely to increase slightly, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers forecasted and wind speeds picking up to 40-50 kmph. The consistent cloud cover and occasional showers may offer some respite from the summer heat.
The IMD has urged residents in the affected regions to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to strong winds. While the rainfall is not widespread, it marks the beginning of pre-monsoon activity and is expected to provide some relief from the scorching summer temperatures.
