Agnipath Scheme or the Agniveer Scheme was launched back in 2022, where selected candidates are enrolled for 4 4-year period. Based on organisational requirements and policies issued by the Armed Forces, candidates, after completing their engagement period, will be offered an opportunity to apply for enrolment in the permanent cadre.
Of these, up to 25 per cent of candidates will be selected for enrolment in the Armed Forces as regular cadre.
