Priyanka Chopra: “I Still Have a Lot to Do in My English-Language Work”

New Delhi: Global head-turner Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who continues to work across industries and continents, says her creative hunger remains unsatisfied as she looks toward a new chapter in her international career.

Reflecting on her journey, the star—who made her Hollywood debut in 2015 with the American TV series Quantico, playing the lead role of FBI recruit Alex Parrish—shared that while she has explored almost every genre in Hindi cinema, she feels she has “barely scratched the surface” in her English-language work.

When asked what now drives her—recognition, legacy, or creating space for others to dream beyond boundaries—Priyanka, who has appeared in BaywatchIsn’t It RomanticThe White Tiger, and The Matrix Resurrections, said,
“As an artist, I feel I still have a lot to do in my English-language work. I don’t even feel like I’ve really begun yet.”

She added, “In my Hindi filmography, I’ve worked across almost every possible genre, and now I’m trying to do the same in my English-language or international projects, no matter the language.”

A two-time National Film Award winner and Padma Shri honoree, Priyanka expressed her desire to create and work on films and characters that connect with people, change culture, and inspire audiences.

The global star also revealed her intent to support beautiful stories like Born Hungry through her company Purple Pebble Pictures, which she launched in 2015.

The actress, who made her acting debut in the 2002 Tamil film Thamizhan, said,
“Alongside my production company, I genuinely want to support brilliant filmmakers like Barry Averich, who tell such beautiful stories in a delicate yet technically sound way.”

She added, “With Pebble, we’ve tried to do that with films like Anuja, To Kill a Tiger, Ventilator, and Paani. We work across multiple languages, and the company is built on the ethos that when I entered the industry, I didn’t have the shoulders I have today.”

“We love advancing stories that need to be told. We love bringing in talent—be it filmmakers, writers, actors—anyone who wants to make a mark globally—and providing them that platform.”

Priyanka emphasized that supporting filmmakers, writers, and actors who need a global platform is central to her work.
“And yes, perhaps this comes from the fact that when I entered the film industry, I didn’t know where to go, whom to speak to, or which door to knock on. Maybe that’s why I chose the films I did and built the company with today’s ethos in mind.”
