Tragic Road Accident in Fatehpur Shekhawati: 7 Women of One Family Lose Their Lives on Makar Sankranti

High-Speed Collision on NH-52 Claims Lives, Leaves Village in Grief

Fatehpur Shekhawati, Rajasthan: A heart-wrenching incident shook the region as seven women from the same family died in a tragic road accident on Makar Sankranti. The horrifying accident occurred near Harsawa village on NH-52 when a speeding car first collided with a pickup and then rammed into an oncoming truck, leaving the car completely crushed.

The victims included the matriarch Mohini Devi (80), her five daughters-in-law — Chanda Devi (55), Tulsi Devi (45), Barkha Devi (35), Asha Devi (60), Santosh Devi (45) — and her daughter Indira (60). Barkha Devi succumbed to her injuries en route to Jaipur. The car driver Wasim (25) and a young woman Sonu (35) sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment.

The family had traveled from Lakshmangarh to attend the funeral of Kailash Devi, the sister-in-law of Mohini Devi, returning home around 4 PM. The journey, spread across four vehicles, carried men in three cars, while the women and the driver were in one. Eyewitnesses reported that the tragedy unfolded when the driver attempted an overtake at high speed, losing control of the car and causing the fatal collision.

The accident left the village of Raghunathpura in deep mourning. Residents described complete silence at homes, with no fires lit in kitchens that evening. The women were the primary pillars of their household, and their sudden deaths have left the family devastated. Many had children dependent on them, with husbands working in businesses, gas agencies, or abroad.

Immediate Response: Authorities rushed to the site, with CI Surendra Tam Degda of Fatehpur Sadar Police, local administration officials, and medical staff from Dhanuka Hospital managing the aftermath. Collector Mukul Sharma, doctors, local legislators, and party leaders, including Hakam Ali, Shravan Chaudhary, ADM Ratnalal Swami, ASP Dr. Tejpal Singh, and Municipal Chairperson Mushtaq Najmi, visited the site to oversee relief measures.

Official Condolences:
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Governor Haribhau Bagde expressed deep sorrow over the incident. The Chief Minister urged that the deceased souls be granted peace and prayed for strength for the grieving family.

This accident adds to a disturbing pattern on NH-52, which has witnessed several tragic incidents, including a similar Makar Sankranti accident two years ago near Narodara Bus Stand that also claimed seven lives. The repeated tragedies raise serious concerns about road safety and speeding vehicles on this highway.
