Shahid Kapoor–Triptii Dimri starrer sees midweek drop despite BOGO boost

Entertainment: O Romeo witnessed a noticeable drop in business on Wednesday, collecting approximately ₹3 crore net. The fall from Monday stands at around 30–35 percent, which is steeper than the usual expected dip of about 20 percent. Although the film had benefited earlier from a BOGO (Buy One Get One) ticket offer that helped maintain numbers, the midweek decline indicates slowing momentum.

The Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri starrer has accumulated just under ₹40 crore net in six days. The film is expected to close its first week at around ₹42 crore net.

Overseas, the performance has also been underwhelming. With earnings of approximately USD 1.75 million (around ₹16 crore), the film’s worldwide gross currently stands at nearly ₹64 crore.

Based on its opening weekend trend, it initially appeared difficult—if not impossible—for the film to reach the ₹50 crore net mark. However, aided by the BOGO offer and some external push, it now seems likely to touch that milestone, considering it has already earned close to ₹40 crore. That said, this does not significantly change the overall picture. Mounted on a high budget, the film required well over ₹50 crore—at least double that figure—to be considered successful.

Interestingly, the collections on Monday and Tuesday briefly hinted at a possible turnaround, but Wednesday’s sharp drop has once again made that outcome seem unlikely.
