Amit Shah to Begin Three-Day Bihar Visit from February 25, Review India–Nepal Border Security

Patna: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will begin a three-day visit to Bihar from February 25, during which he will review security arrangements, administrative preparedness, and ongoing development initiatives in the state’s border districts. A key focus of the visit will be the security situation along the India–Nepal border.

According to the schedule, Shah will arrive in Purnia at 4 pm on February 25 and then proceed by helicopter to Kishanganj. From 5 pm to 7 pm, he will chair a review meeting at the Collectorate and will stay overnight in Kishanganj.

High-Level Meetings in Border Districts

On February 26, the Home Minister will travel to Araria, where he will attend a program at the Letti Border Outpost at 11 am. Later, he will hold a high-level review meeting at the Collectorate with Superintendents of Police and district officials from border areas to assess issues related to the India–Nepal border, with special emphasis on security measures.

The same day, Shah will also participate in an event under the Vibrant Villages Programme before returning to Purnia for the night. On February 27, he will once again meet officials in Purnia to deliberate on matters concerning the border districts. After concluding the final round of review meetings, he will depart for New Delhi.

Officials have completed logistical arrangements, and elaborate security measures have been put in place ahead of the visit. Sources indicate that the Seemanchal region will be the central focus of the tour. Following the Union Home Ministry’s “Naxal-Mukt Bharat” initiative, the region is now being seen as the next major priority, with special attention on curbing infiltration.

Shah has visited Seemanchal multiple times in recent years. During the previous Bihar Assembly elections, he had alleged attempts to create a vote bank through illegal migrants in the region and asserted that the NDA government would not allow such practices. He had stated that every infiltrator would be identified and deported, and all illegal activities would be firmly curtailed.
