Ingredients for Banana Raita

  • Ripe bananas – 4

  • Yogurt (curd) – 1 kg

  • Sugar – 2 cups

  • Cardamom powder – 1 tablespoon

  • Desi ghee (clarified butter) – 2–3 tablespoons

  • Grated coconut – 3–4 tablespoons

  • Chironji (charoli seeds) – 2 tablespoons

  • Raisins – 10–15

  • Cashews – 2 tablespoons

  • Almonds – 2 tablespoons

  • Makhana (fox nuts) – 4 tablespoons


Method to Prepare Banana Raita

  1. Start by peeling the bananas and slicing them into thin pieces.

  2. Take the yogurt in a large bowl and whisk it well until smooth.

  3. Add powdered sugar and a little cardamom powder to the yogurt and mix thoroughly.

  4. Now add the chopped bananas to the sweetened yogurt and gently combine.

  5. Heat 2–3 tablespoons of ghee in a pan. Add the grated coconut and sauté it lightly until aromatic.

  6. Then add chironji, cashews, raisins, and almonds, and roast them together for a few minutes.

  7. Pour this roasted mixture (tempering) into the prepared raita and mix well.

Your delicious and sweet Banana Raita is now ready. Garnish it with roasted makhanas, chill it for some time, and serve cold for the best taste.
