Kantara 2 Gets Huge Boost: Totally Unexpected

Varun Dhawan’s upcoming films have seen a major reshuffle in their release dates, resulting in a significant boost for Rishab Shetty’s much-anticipated Kantara Chapter 1.
Dharma Productions’ Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is now set to hit screens on September 12, which has pushed Varun’s other project, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, originally scheduled for October 2, to a later date.
This shift leaves Kantara Chapter 1 with a solo release in Hindi on Gandhi Jayanti 2025, giving it a huge advantage. The Dussehra holidays will add more fuel to its box office collections.
Kantara Part 1 was a surprise box office sensation, especially in Hindi markets. Starting with just 2.5 crore on its opening day, the film went on to surpass 100 crores net in its lifetime collection due to exceptional word of mouth. This unexpected success turned Kantara into one of the biggest sleeper hits in recent years.
Now, with Kantara 2 called as Kantara Chapter 1 (the prequel) lined up for release, the expectations are sky-high. It has the potential to be one of the year’s top-grossing films. If the film matches the hype, it could easily target 800-1000 crores worldwide gross.
With Varun Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai stepping away from the October 2 slot, Kantara Chapter 1 now enjoys a solo release on Gandhi Jayanti 2025.
This unexpected development could boost its box office prospects in a big way, making it a strong contender alongside WAR 2 for the year’s biggest blockbuster title.
