AAP Files Complaint with Women’s Commission Over ‘Toxic’ Teaser
Party alleges obscene content in Kannada film teaser, seeks ban and removal from social media

Bengaluru:
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday lodged a complaint with the Karnataka State Women’s Commission (KSWC), objecting to alleged obscene scenes in the teaser of the Kannada film ‘Toxic’ and demanding appropriate action. Leaders of the party’s women’s wing from the state unit met officials of the Women’s Commission and submitted a formal complaint.
In a letter, AAP State Secretary Usha Mohan claimed, “The teaser of this film contains obscene and objectionable content that is causing serious harm to the social well-being of women and children. These visuals, released publicly without any age-related warning, hurt the dignity of women and insult Kannada culture.”
Citing the “negative impact on society, especially on minors,” the party urged the commission to intervene immediately and direct state government authorities to ban the teaser and remove it from social media platforms.
On behalf of the AAP women’s wing, the letter further appealed to the Women’s Commission to take the matter seriously and initiate swift action to “uphold the cultural and moral values of the state.”
The makers of ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ released actor Yash’s first look on January 8 through a short teaser shared on the occasion of his 40th birthday, introducing him as the character ‘Raya’. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film marks Yash’s first project after the blockbuster success of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ in 2022.
Following the teaser’s release, a section of social media users objected to its content, accusing the film of “objectifying women” and questioning the director in light of her earlier statements criticising such portrayals.
However, another section strongly defended the teaser and the film’s team. Backed by KVN Productions, which previously produced Vijay-starrer ‘Jana Nayakan’, ‘Toxic’ is scheduled for release on March 19. The film also features Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Kiara Advani, and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles. The technical crew includes Rajeev Ravi as cinematographer, Ravi Basrur as music director, and Ujjwal Kulkarni as editor.
