Kailash Gahlot’s Political Career
Gahlot has been serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Najafgarh constituency since February 2015. Known for his legal acumen and commitment to social welfare, he first rose to prominence when he secured his seat in the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections nearly a decade ago. He quickly moved up the ranks within the AAP, being appointed as a Cabinet Minister in 2017. During his tenure, he was responsible for a wide range of portfolios, including Home, Transport, Information Technology, Administrative Reforms, and Women and Child Development.
Kailash Gahlot’s Early Life And Education
Born on July 22, 1974 in Mitraun village, Najafgarh, Gahlot hails from a family with deep-rooted ties to public service, spanning over nine generations. His educational journey began at Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He went on to study law at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, obtaining both LL.B and LL.M degrees. His leadership qualities were evident early on, as he was elected President of the Students’ Union during his time at college.

Kailash Gahlot’s Professional Background
Before entering politics, Gahlot built a successful career as an advocate, practising law in the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court for over 16 years. His legal expertise earned him recognition, leading to his election as a Member Executive in the Bar Association of the High Court of Delhi from 2005 to 2007.
