All-Party Meet Ahead of Himachal Assembly Session; Key Leaders to Attend on February 16

Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania Calls for Coordination to Ensure Smooth Winter Session

Shimla: Ahead of the upcoming winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has convened an all-party meeting to ensure the smooth conduct of proceedings.

The meeting is scheduled to be held on February 16, just before the commencement of the session. It aims to promote coordination and consensus between the ruling party and the opposition to facilitate orderly discussions during the Assembly sittings.

Among those expected to attend are Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Chief Whip of the Indian National Congress, Harshvardhan Chauhan; Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur; Deputy Chief Whip of the Himachal Pradesh government, Keval Singh Pathania; and BJP MLA and Chief Whip of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Sukhram Chaudhary.

Appeal for Constructive Cooperation

Speaker Pathania emphasized that the meeting holds significant importance before the start of the Budget Session. He underlined the need for mutual coordination, harmony, and cooperation between both sides of the House.

“Our Assembly is historic and is known across the country for its dignity and high traditions. I urge both the ruling and opposition parties to make constructive contributions and utilize the House’s time effectively for meaningful discussions in public interest,” he said.

He further stressed that debates should focus on resolving issues concerning the people of the state.

Additionally, a meeting of the Journalists’ Gallery Committee will be held on February 15, a day prior to the winter session. The meeting will also be chaired by Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania.

With political discussions expected to intensify, the all-party meet is being seen as a crucial step toward maintaining decorum and productivity in the Assembly.
