Andhra Pradesh Establishes ‘Shakti Wing’ to Strengthen Safety of Women and Children
New initiative aims to ensure quick response to complaints and create a safer environment across the state

Vijayawada: On the occasion of Women and Child Safety Week 2026, B. Raja Kumari, Inspector General of Police, announced that a dedicated Shakti Wing was established in Andhra Pradesh on March 8, 2025, to enhance the safety and security of women and children.
She stated that since its establishment, the wing has been actively implementing several initiatives under the Shakti program aimed at strengthening protection mechanisms and ensuring quick action against crimes involving women and children.
The IG also revealed that the Shakti App was launched on the same day to assist in ensuring the safety of women and children. The app is designed to help people report incidents quickly and enable authorities to respond promptly. The initiative seeks to create a safer environment across the state and ensure swift action in cases of crimes against women and children.
B. Raja Kumari further emphasized that the Shakti Wing maintains active communication with the public and ensures that complaints are registered and acted upon without delay. She urged citizens to make proper use of the app and the Shakti Wing so that the safety of women and children in the state can be strengthened further.
