As Op Sindoor gains global traction, Pak resorts to desperate tactics in Denmark

As India mounts pressure on Pakistan in the aftermath of the dastardlyterror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam,Islamabad finds itself in a tight spot. Seven all-party delegations from India are criss-crossing the globe, engaging with foreign governments and officials to brief them on Pakistan’s state-sponsored terrorism, highlighting the success of Operation Sindoor and explaining how India has established a “new normal”.

Amid this diplomatic outreach, the delegation led by former union minister and Lok Sabha MP Ravi Shankar Prasad reached Denmark on Friday. A group of Pakistanis gathered outside the venue, where the delegation was scheduled to address the Indian community on the Pahalgam attack, to protest. During the address, Indian MPs and the envoy hit out at the demonstrators, dismissing their efforts as a failed attempt to draw attention.

Prasad said, “I was very surprised to see Pakistanis here raising slogans. Our programme is going very well. We are getting wide coverage. Their handlers in Pakistan must have told them to do something. They have come here in desperation. Pakistan is a desperate country that lives in desperation. Ignore them with impunity.”

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi mocked the handful of Pakistanis present outside the venue during her speech.

“As we were coming here, we saw some flags, and you would all know what those flags are. I thought to myself, the IMF loan is coming in handy and I hope those who are giving them the IMF loan realise what it’s being used for. So, just two minutes ago, I walked outside to check if they’d left and I was told they’d gone. And while we Indians continue to be resolutely strong in our backing for mother India,” she said.

India’s Ambassador to Denmark Manish Prabhat also spoke about the protesters raising anti-India slogans. Prabhat went a step ahead, compared the two communities – Indians and Pakistanis living in Denmark and highlighted who stood where in the fight against terrorism.

“The Indian diaspora is a thriving community and it has a strength of about 21,000 people now. They are known for promoting peace. This community is unlike the community, a representation of what you saw outside on the street. We know how much they have been paid to put their duty here,” he said.

On the other hand, to garner some attention and in an effort to balance the narrative, the Pakistani Embassy in Denmark was celebrating 75 years of diplomatic ties between both countries. The embassy shared pictures of the Sufi-Cultural evening held at the mission to celebrate the bilateral relationship.

“During our discussion, we briefed the Danish representatives on the horrific Pahalgam terrorist attack and India’s decisive response through Operation Sindoor, emphasising that those responsible for terrorism will be held accountable. We all welcomed Denmark’s unequivocal condemnation of terrorism, valuing the country’s strong stance against this global threat,” Prasad tweeted.

The nine-member delegation includes BJP leaders Daggubati Purandeswari, Ghulam Ali Khatana and Samik Bhattacharya; Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena (UBT); Amar Singh of the Congress; M Thambidurai of the AIADMK; former Union Minister MJ Akbar; and former diplomat Pankaj Saran.
