Ather unveils EL platform, AtherStack 7.0, Infinite Cruise, and next-gen fast charging at Community Day 2025

Ather Energy has unveiled its next-generation scooter platform, EL, along with a host of new technologies and product updates at the third edition of Ather Community Day 2025. The event, held on August 30, marked a milestone for the Bengaluru-based EV maker, as it announced its first new vehicle architecture since the Ather 450.

EL platform

The EL platform has been designed for versatility, scalability, and cost optimisation, laying the foundation for Ather’s next phase of growth. Developed using 26 lakh kms of field data, the platform features a new chassis, powertrain, and redesigned electronics stack. Its simplified architecture allows 15% faster assembly, up to two times quicker servicing, and service intervals extended to 10,000 km. Safety has been enhanced through the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS), while convenience gets a boost with the Ather Charge Drive Controller, which integrates the onboard charger with the motor controller, eliminating the need for portable chargers.

Redux

At the event, Ather also showcased Redux, a concept moto-scooter that offers a glimpse into the company’s performance-oriented future. Built with an ‘inside out’ design philosophy, Redux combines the agility of a scooter with the dynamics of a motorcycle. It features a lightweight aluminium frame, 3D-printed lattice mesh seat, and AmplyTex body panels. Among its futuristic experiences are adaptive ride dynamics, posture-based transformation between scooter and sport bike, Morph-UI that adapts to riding context, and an ultra-fast acceleration mode dubbed “Take Off.”

AtherStack 7.0

Another major highlight was the launch of AtherStack 7.0, the company’s biggest software upgrade to date. The new stack introduces voice as an interaction medium, powered by a large language model tuned to Indian dialects. This allows riders to engage in natural conversations with their scooter, receiving proactive alerts about live location, tyre pressure, and other key information. Safety-focused features include Pothole Alerts, which warn riders about rough road patches using fleet data, and Crash Alerts, which automatically notify emergency contacts in case of severe accidents. Security has also been strengthened with ParkSafe for unsafe parking zone alerts and LockSafe for remote scooter immobilisation. Remote-control capabilities now allow charging and shutdown to be managed via the app.

The software update will be rolled out over-the-air in the coming months and will be backward compatible with the Rizta Z and Ather 450X Gen 3 scooters. Alongside, the Ather HALO smart helmet received upgrades such as new colours, a USB-C charging port, emergency pull-out padding, a pinlock-ready anti-fog visor, and premium audio with noise reduction, seamlessly integrated with the scooter’s new voice features.

Infinite Cruise

Ather also introduced Infinite Cruise, its cruise control system tailored for Indian riding conditions. Debuting on the 2025 Ather 450 Apex, Infinite Cruise offers CityCruise, Hill Control, and Crawl Control modes. CityCruise works across speeds up to 90 km/h and adapts seamlessly even after braking or changing pace. Hill Control manages inclines and regenerative braking downhill, while Crawl Control ensures smooth navigation at speeds as low as 10kmph, aided by Multimode Traction Control for stability on slippery surfaces.

Upgrade for Rizta Z

Ather announced upgrades for the Rizta Z. Existing customers will receive an OTA update activating full touchscreen functionality and a new Eco Mode. The Rizta Z also gets a refreshed user interface and a new Terracotta Red dual-tone colour option, adding to its appeal.

Next-generation fast charger

In charging infrastructure, Ather unveiled its next-generation 6kW fast charger, which delivers double the charging speed in a unit half the size of the current model. The new charger can add up to 30km of range in just 10 minutes, while select variants feature a built-in tyre inflator for added convenience. With the LECCS standard now adopted by 10 industry partners including Hero Vida, Matter, Bolt, Kazam, and EVamp, interoperability across brands is improving, strengthening India’s EV ecosystem.
