Bangladesh Invites PM Modi for Tarique Rahman’s Swearing-In on February 17
Interim Yunus Government Sends Invitations to 13 Nations Ahead of Oath Ceremony

Dhaka: Bangladesh is set to witness the formation of a new government as Tarique Rahman, president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is scheduled to take oath as Prime Minister on February 17.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been formally invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony. The Bangladesh government has sent an official invitation to New Delhi for the high-profile event.
Preparations for the ceremony are underway, with the oath-taking scheduled to be held at the Southern Plaza of the Bangladesh Parliament House in Dhaka. The interim government led by Muhammad Yunus has reportedly extended invitations to 13 countries to attend the event.
Among the nations invited are India, China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, along with several others.
The invitation comes at a time when bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh have experienced strain following the formation of the interim Yunus-led administration. Against this backdrop, the outreach to New Delhi is being seen as diplomatically significant.
However, it remains to be seen whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi will personally attend the ceremony or if India will be represented at another level.
