Bengaluru Shocker: Man Alleges ‘Honour’ Killing After Girlfriend’s Body Found in Lake

Bengaluru Shocker: A shocking twist has emerged in the death of a 21-year-old woman after her boyfriend alleged that she was a victim of ‘honour’ killing at the hands of her father, who opposed their relationship.

The body of the woman, identified as R Sahana, a resident of Harohalli near Hosur, was found in a lake on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Thursday.

Her father, Ramamurthy, had filed a police complaint, claiming that their two-wheeler lost control and plunged into the lake while he was riding with his daughter on Tuesday. According to him, Sahana drowned as she did not know how to swim.

However, the victim’s boyfriend, Nitin, contested Ramamurthy’s account, alleging that Sahana was deliberately pushed into the lake. He claimed that Ramamurthy had previously assaulted Sahana in his presence at a friend’s house in Hebbagodi, trying to dissuade her from marrying him. Despite the attack, Sahana stood firm on her decision.

During police interrogation, Ramamurthy admitted he was disturbed by his daughter’s relationship but denied any wrongdoing. He maintained that Sahana’s death was an accident, explaining that he had dozed off while riding, causing the bike to veer off course and fall into the lake.

Authorities have registered a case for causing death by negligence and are investigating all angles, including the possibility of an ‘honour’ killing.
