Chess Champion D. Gukesh receives blessings and gifts from Rajinikanth and Sivakarthikeyan in heartwarming Chennai meet

D. Gukesh, India’s young chess prodigy, made history last week by defeating China’s Ding Liren in the final match of the FIDE World Chess Championship in Singapore.

At just 18 years old, Gukesh became the youngest-ever world chess champion, surpassing the legendary Garry Kasparov, who held the previous record as the youngest champion at 22. This remarkable achievement has earned Gukesh immense recognition, not only from chess enthusiasts but also from celebrities across various fields.

Upon returning to Chennai, Gukesh was greeted with a warm reception. The young chess champion met two of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, Rajinikanth and Sivakarthikeyan, who offered their blessings and celebrated his success. Gukesh shared heartwarming pictures of his interactions with the stars on social media, expressing his gratitude for their support.

One of the highlights of his visit was meeting the iconic Rajinikanth. Gukesh, along with his parents-Dr. Rajinikanth, a renowned ENT surgeon, and Padmavathi, a microbiologist-posed for pictures with the superstar. Rajinikanth, who is currently working on his upcoming film Coolie, was dressed in a black kurta and grey lungi. He graciously presented Gukesh with a shawl and a special gift: Autobiography of a Yogi, a spiritual classic by Paramahansa Yogananda. Gukesh expressed his appreciation for the gesture on social media, thanking the superstar for his kind wishes and for sharing his wisdom. “Thanks Superstar @rajinikanth sir for your warm wishes and inviting, spending time and sharing your wisdom with us,” Gukesh wrote.

The young champion also had the chance to meet actor Sivakarthikeyan, who took time from his busy schedule to meet Gukesh and his family. In the pictures shared by Gukesh, Sivakarthikeyan, dressed casually in a light T-shirt and black trousers, can be seen interacting warmly with Gukesh and gifting him a luxury watch. The actor also surprised Gukesh with a custom chess-themed cake, a thoughtful gesture celebrating the champion’s victory. Gukesh expressed his gratitude for Sivakarthikeyan’s kindness, stating, “Had a great time with @Siva_Kartikeyan sir and he was kind enough to spend time with me and my family despite his busy schedule.”

Sivakarthikeyan, known for his recent successful role in the war film Amaran, is currently busy with upcoming projects directed by AR Murugadoss and Sudha Kongara. The meeting between the young chess champion and these two stars was not just a celebration of Gukesh’s success, but also a moment of joy and encouragement from some of Tamil cinema’s biggest names. The love and support from these figures have made Gukesh’s monumental achievement even more memorable.
