Congress to contest around 60 seats in Bihar as negotiations with RJD conclude

The Congress is set to contest around 60 seats in Bihar as part of the Mahagathbandhan alliance, party sources said on Sunday. The seat-sharing talks with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) have been nearly finalised, with only two or three constituencies still under discussion.
An official announcement is likely tomorrow, sources added.
“There is no dispute between the Congress and RJD. Seat-sharing has been settled for almost all seats, except a few where both parties have staked claim,” Congress sources told India Today TV.
The development marks a breakthrough after days of tense negotiations between the two key alliance partners. The RJD had initially offered 52 seats to the Congress, which had been demanding 60. The deadlock now appears to have eased.
Earlier, Congress leader Pawan Khera had downplayed reports of friction, saying, “There is no hitch in seat sharing in the Mahagathbandhan, as hoped by the BJP. Every party has the right to express its views. We will fight the election together.”
