In Agra, police raided three illegal factories making fake ghee, uncovering a major scandal. Fake ghee was being manufactured and supplied under the names of 18 major brands like Patanjali, Amul, and Paras to various states in North India.

Use of Urea and Hazardous Chemicals

Urea, palm oil, and other dangerous chemicals were being used to produce fake ghee.These factories were registered under the name ‘Shyam Agro,’ owned by Neeraj Agarwal, a resident of Gwalior.

Police Action

On January 2, police raided three factories in the Tajganj police station area, seizing 2,500 kg of raw materials, fake ghee, stickers of 18 brands, and packaging materials. Four laborers and a manager present in the factory were taken into custody.

Supply Across Several States in India

During interrogation, it was revealed that the fake ghee was being supplied to Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, among other states. DCP Suraj Kumar Rai stated that a truck carrying 50 tins of fake ghee had been sent to Meerut, which is now being traced by the police.

Indication of Strict Action
