Farmers will hold a protest march today from Noida to the Parliament complex in Delhi, where the Winter Session is currently going on, to press their five key demands for compensation and benefits under the new agricultural laws.The upcoming protest has prompted the police to scale up security measures and divert routes in Delhi-NCR.Farmers
Farmers are demanding an allocation of 10 per cent plots and 64.7 per cent increased compensation under the old acquisition law, that is four times the market rate compensation, and 20 per cent plots on the land acquired after January 1, 2014. They also want children of landless farmers to be given the benefit of employment and rehabilitation, government orders on the issues passed by the High Power Committee and proper settlement of the populated areas.
The protest will begin at 12 pm near the Mahamaya Flyover in Noida and farmers will march towards Delhi on foot and tractors. Farmers from 20 districts, including Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Aligarh and Bulandshahr will take part in the march.Farmers
SECURITY MEASURES RAMPED UP
In view of the protest march, Delhi Police and Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have put up barriers on the Noida-Delhi border points to prevent the farmers from marching into the national capital.
Police will carry out intensive checking of vehicles and have diverted some routes for the commuters. People have been advised to use the metro to avoid possible traffic jams on some routes.Farmers
Entry of all types of goods vehicles has been banned on the route from Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and from Sirsa to Surajpur via Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.
ROUTE DIVERSIONS
Vehicles going from Chilla Border towards Greater Noida can reach their destination via Sector 14A flyover, Golchakkar Chowk, Sector 15, Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk and Jhundpura Chowk. Those going from DND Border to Delhi can reach their destination via Film City Flyover to Sector 18 using the elevated road.
Vehicles coming from Kalindi Border Delhi can reach their destination via Mahamaya Flyover to Sector 37. Vehicles going from Greater Noida to Delhi can reach their destination via Charkha Roundabout to Kalindi Kunj.Vehicles going from Greater Noida towards Delhi will be able to go towards their destination via Hajipur underpass towards Kalindi Kunj and from Sector 51 to Sector 60 via Model Town.Farmers
Those going to Delhi using Yamuna Expressway will be able to go to their destinations via Jewar toll towards Khurja and Jahangirpur.Vehicles going to Delhi via Sirsa, Pari Chowk from Peripheral Expressway will be able to go to their destinations via Dadra and Dasna. Ambulances and other emergency vehicles have been exempted from the route diversions.
