From April 1, 2025, the following updates are now in effect:

1. FASTag Now Mandatory in Maharashtra

While FASTag is already compulsory in most states, Maharashtra has now made it mandatory for all vehicles without exception. No vehicle will be allowed to pass through any toll plaza in the state without an active FASTag.

2. Double Toll Without FASTag

Vehicles not fitted with a valid FASTag will be charged double the toll fee at every toll plaza across India. This rule remains strictly enforced under the latest guidelines.

3. FASTag Works Across All Toll Booths

No matter which company operates a toll booth, FASTag will now work seamlessly across all toll plazas on national and state highways under the NETC (National Electronic Toll Collection) program.

FASTag Balance Matters: Avoid Getting Blacklisted

A major update involves FASTag balance management:

• If your linked account or wallet has insufficient balance, your FASTag can be blacklisted automatically.
• Once blacklisted, the system will deny toll payment through FASTag, and you’ll be forced to pay in cash – which may cause delays or entry denial at FASTag-only booths.

Tip: Set auto-recharge or regular reminders to top up your account to avoid disruption.
