Festive Atmosphere in Malda Ahead of PM’s Visit, People Call Vande Bharat Sleeper Launch a ‘Moment of Pride’
Thousands gather at Malda Town station as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper coach train

Malda: A wave of excitement and celebration swept through Malda Town Railway Station in West Bengal on Saturday as thousands of people gathered to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi and witness the inauguration of India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper coach train. Along with the general public, a large number of schoolchildren were also brought to attend the event.
After flagging off the country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper coach from Malda Town station, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to inaugurate several other trains at a ground near the Old Malda Bypass, followed by addressing a public rally. Preparations for the event are nearly complete, and people from far-flung areas have been arriving at the venue since early morning.
A woman present in the crowd expressed her happiness, saying, “PM Modi is coming here to inaugurate India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper coach train. This is a moment of pride for all of us.”
Another man who had reached Malda said, “It feels great that the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is being launched. This train will be a major convenience for passengers.”
A young attendee also shared his excitement, stating, “This is the first time a Vande Bharat sleeper coach train is being inaugurated from here. We are eager to see what new facilities passengers will get on this train.”
During the event, several people also voiced their expectations from the Prime Minister. Develina Saha said, “We have many hopes from PM Modi. We want better safety for daughters in Bengal and more employment opportunities for the youth. We believe that with the BJP coming to power, terror and insecurity will end. We want to see PM Modi as the Prime Minister every time.”
Meanwhile, Asha Munda said, “We want stronger security in Bengal. At the same time, we hope PM Modi takes positive steps for the tribal community.”
Calling the occasion special for Malda, Gayatri Sarkar Paul said, “It is a moment of happiness for our city that PM Modi is visiting here. Whenever he comes to Bengal, he brings some new gift for the state.”
