Hyderabad woman succumbs to burns after husband sets her ablaze

There was a quarrel between Rekha and Naveen, as the latter suspected that his wife was maintaining relationship with another man

Hyderabad: A woman who was allegedly set ablaze by her husband nearly a week ago after a quarrel at their house in Amberpet died while undergoing treatment on Sunday.

The woman Rekha (27) was married to Pidugu Naveen, (37) a scrap dealer around six years ago and the couple, along with their two children stayed at a house in Amberpet.

According to the police, on March 10, there was a quarrel between Rekha and Naveen, as the latter suspected that his wife was maintaining relationship with another man. During the argument, Naveen doused his wife with fuel that he brought along with him and set her on fire.

The woman was rushed to a private hospital and admitted for treatment. She succumbed to the injuries while in the hospital on Sunday.

The Amberpet police registered a case and are investigating. Naveen was taken into custody.
