Israeli PM Netanyahu Dials PM Modi Amid Israel-Iran Conflict: Prime Minister Modi said that he was briefed on the evolving situation by Netanyahu. “Received a phone call from PM @netanyahu of Israel. He briefed me on the evolving situation. I shared India’s concerns and emphasized the need for early restoration of peace and stability in the region,” PM Modi said on X. India on Friday said it is “deeply concerned” over the recent developments between Iran and Israel and “closely monitoring” the evolving situation.
Earlier, Israeli PM Netanyahu’s office, in a statement, said that he held conversations with world leaders, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Indian Prime Minister Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. He is due to speak with US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the statement added.
“The leaders showed understanding for Israel’s defence needs in the face of the Iranian threat of annihilation; the Prime Minister said that he would continue to be in contact with them in the coming days,” it added.
Netanyahu’s move to speak to world leaders, hours after strikes on Iran, is being seen as a diplomatic push to garner international support.
Earlier today, Israel has carried out strikes at various places in Iran, targeting nuclear and missile sites, and top military officers. Israel launched ‘Operation Rising Lion,’ striking at the heart of Iran’s nuclear program, including its main enrichment facility in Natanz, early Friday.
The strikes set off explosions in the capital of Tehran as Israel said it was targeting Iranian nuclear and military facilities. Following which Iran sent a swarm of drones. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump asked Iran to agree to a nuclear deal, warning that “the next already planned attacks” would be even more brutal.
