Jaishankar in No-Nonsense Mood, Questions Bangladesh Directly

The Indian government has shifted into action mode regarding its stance toward Bangladesh. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has made it clear that the neighboring country must define the kind of relationship it wants with India.

He emphasized that the daily accusations against India by leaders of Bangladesh’s interim government are unacceptable. Jaishankar stated, “It is nonsense to stand up every day in the interim government and blame India for everything. On one hand, you talk about improving relations, and on the other, you blame us every morning for every wrong thing. This won’t work.”

Jaishankar’s strong remarks highlight India’s growing frustration with Bangladesh’s contradictory approach. While Bangladesh seeks to strengthen ties, its leaders frequently target India for domestic issues. This dual stance has strained bilateral relations, prompting India to demand clarity and consistency. The External Affairs Minister’s direct questioning underscores India’s expectation for a more balanced and constructive relationship with its neighbor.
