Kashmir Turns Into Winter Paradise After Fresh Spell Of Snowfall In Several Areas

inter is officially here! Picturesque tourist spots in Jammu and Kashmir have been covered in white as fresh spells of snowfall graced several areas in the Valley, including Bandipora, Baramulla and Gurez.The snow-capped mountains of Kashmir have provided a reason to tourists to cheer amid cold wave conditions.
Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Gurez received fresh snowfall on Wednesday while intermittent snowfall continued in other areas of the valley, according to officials. This is due to a fresh Western Disturbance that has impacted Jammu and Kashmir, with heavy snowfall in higher altitudes of the Valley.

Last month, the Union Territory of Ladakh also received the season’s first snowfall, which covered the picturesque mountains in thick sheets of white. While the higher reaches of Kashmir have experienced snowfall, there has been no snowfall in the plains so far this season.
Snowy Sights Dazzle Tourists In Kashmir
Snowfall in Sonamarg has turned the area into a hotspot for tourists as people stepped out on the snow-capped ground in warm clothes and scarves to enjoy the Himalayan weather and protect themselves from the cold.

The roads, trees, buildings and peaks were covered in sheets of pristine white snow, adding to the majestic beauty of the place. However, the fresh snowfall brought some dangers, such as slippery roads and traffic disruptions. This has done little to dissuade avid tourists from enjoying the chill and the breathtaking landscape of Kashmir Valley covered in white.
Meanwhile, the night temperature increased across Kashmir, including Srinagar, due to overcast skies. However, the minimum temperature remained below the freezing point across the Kashmir valley.
Snowfall continued in J&K’s Baramulla.
The fresh snowfall came as a result of a Western Disturbance.

Srinagar city recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3 degrees Celsius, up from the season’s lowest of minus 5.4 degrees Celsius the previous night. Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 6 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 1.8 degrees Celsius. Qazigund recorded a low of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius and Kupwara registered minus 4.5 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department said there will be no changes in the weather for the next ten days, and the the weather is expected to stay mainly dry till December 18. Kashmir is bracing for the harshest winter period, known as ‘Chillai Kalan’, which starts from December 21. Diet tips: Try quinoa idlis, quinoa pulao or quinoa dosa for a nutritious, gluten-free meal
