Mumbai is gearing up for several events and processions to mark the 68th death anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, with thousands of his followers expected to visit Chaitya Bhoomi in Dadar.

These events are part of the annual Mahaparinirvan Diwas observance, which takes place on December 6 to pay tribute to Dr Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. The tribute procession will continue until December 7.

In light of the large number of people expected, Mumbai Police have issued an advisory to manage traffic and ensure safety. The advisory highlights that traffic will be significantly affected around the areas of Chaitya Bhoomi and Shivaji Park, with heavy congestion anticipated, according to a Mint report. Traffic Restrictions And Road Closures

The following traffic restrictions are enforced from Thursday, December 5, to Saturday, December 7:

1. Swatantrayaveer Savarkar Road will be closed for vehicles from Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Junction to Hinduja Hospital.

Alternative route: Commuters can take a left turn at Yes Bank Junction and proceed along Pandurang Naik Road, which leads to Rajabade Chowk.

2. One-way traffic will be in place on SK Bole Road, specifically from Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Junction to Portuguese Church Junction for northbound vehicles.

Parking Restrictions

No-parking zones have also been set up in the vicinity to avoid unnecessary obstructions and allow smooth movement of vehicles. Heavy vehicles will be restricted from entering these roads for the duration of the observance.

With large crowds expected in Dadar, residents and commuters are advised to plan their travel ahead of time and avoid the affected routes.
