Netaji birth anniversary: PM Modi shakes hands with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge
Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for a brief moment after paying floral tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the Old Parliament building on his birth anniversary.January 23 is observed as Parakram Diwas (Day of Valour) to commemorate the freedom fighter’s birth anniversary.
The leaders then shook hands as they wrapped up their conversation. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was present alongside the PM.Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh and other leaders also paid floral tributes to Netaji at the Samvidhan Sadan.
Earlier today, PM Modi conveyed his greetings to the people of India and highlighted Netaji’s dedication to the nation’s freedom. “Greetings to the people of India on Parakram Diwas. Today on his jayanti, we honour the life and courage of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. His unwavering dedication to our nation’s freedom continues to inspire,” he posted on X, formerly Twitter.
“His vision continues to motivate us as we work towards building the India he envisioned,” the Prime Minister added.President Droupadi Murmu too paid her respects, highlighting his unwavering commitment to India’s independence and his enduring impact on the nation’s freedom struggle.
“I pay my tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary, observed as Parakram Diwas! Netaji demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the cause of India’s freedom.
