Odisha Weather Tomorrow: IMD Issues Warning; Will Rains Affect Rath Yatra In Puri?

Odisha Weather Tomorrow: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a weather alert for several districts of Odisha, warning of heavy rains and thunderstorms for the next 7 days.

Puri, set to commence the Rath Yatra tomorrow, is also expected to witness a thunderstorm with lightning.

Orange and yellow warnings have been issued for several areas of Odisha for June 27. Thunderstorms with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati on Friday.

An orange warning has been issued for the districts of Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Balangir and Boudh, while a yellow warning has been issued for Bargarh, Nuapada, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal.

For Puri, the thunderstorms are expected to continue till 8.30 AM of June 28.

Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025 Schedule

The pilgrim town of Puri in Odisha is all set for the annual Rath Yatra celebrations of Lord Jagannath, which will take place on June 27. The Ratha Yatra of the four deities – Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Sudarshana – takes place on the second day of the Odia month of Ashadha Shukla Tithi.

  • Dwarapala Puja – 7:30 am
  • Besha Sesha – by 7:30 am
  • Gopala Ballava and Sakala Dhupa (Khechudi Bhoga) – 8:00 to 9:00 am
  • Ratha Pratishtha – 9:00 am
  • Mangalarpana – 9:15 am
  • Pahandi begins – 9:30 am
  • Pahandi ends – by 12:30 pm
  • Sri Sri Madan Mohan, Sri Sri Ram and Sri Sri Krishan Bije – between 12:30 to 1:00 pm
  • Chita Lagi – 1:30 to 2:00 pm
  • Besha Sesha – 1:30 to 2:30 pm
  • Chhera Panhara by Gajapati King – 2:30 to 3:30 pm
  • Charamala Phita, Ghoda and Sarathi Lagiba – 4:00 pm (dismantling of the ladder and fixing of horses and Sarathi)
  • Rathatana (pulling of chariots) – starts at 4:00 pm
