Chaos Erupts in Premnagar as Furious Crowd Drags Accused Out of Car; Police Step In to Prevent Escalation

Bareilly: Panic gripped the Premnagar area of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh after a speeding car allegedly driven by intoxicated youths rammed into three vehicles parked along the roadside, triggering chaos and outrage late on Friday.
According to eyewitnesses, the car was moving at a dangerously high speed when the driver suddenly lost control. The vehicle first smashed into a parked Mahindra Thar and then crashed into another car standing nearby. The impact was so severe that all three vehicles were badly mangled, with parts scattered across the road.
Traffic Halted, Locals in Shock
The violent collision created panic among nearby residents and passersby. Traffic in the area was briefly disrupted as people rushed to the scene. Eyewitnesses alleged that the occupants of the car appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and were driving recklessly.
Video footage from the scene reportedly shows the front and rear portions of the damaged vehicles completely wrecked, highlighting the intensity of the crash. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, averting what could have turned into a major tragedy.
Crowd Fury Turns Violent
As anger mounted, locals allegedly pulled the two youths out of the car and confronted them. In the chaos that followed, the crowd reportedly assaulted the accused before police intervention.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team quickly reached the spot. Officers had to struggle to rescue the accused from the agitated crowd before taking them into custody.
Authorities have launched further legal proceedings and are investigating the incident, including allegations of drunk driving.
The dramatic sequence of events has once again raised concerns over reckless driving and alleged intoxicated motorists on city roads—leaving residents shaken and demanding stricter action.
