PM Modi Lands in Kolkata; Official Welcome by Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya Amid News of Fatal Crash

In a heart-wrenching incident ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s grand rally in Taherpur, Nadia, three BJP supporters from Murshidabad lost their lives after being hit by a train.

The accident occurred early Saturday morning near the Taherpur railway station area.

Details of the Mishap: The victims had arrived from Murshidabad’s Burwan in a bus at around 5 AM. Due to thick winter fog and low visibility, they failed to spot an oncoming train while crossing or standing near the tracks. Three persons-Ramprasad Ghosh (72), Muktipada Sutradhar (63), and Gopinath Das (47)-died on the spot. The injured have been rushed to Shaktinagar District Hospital, where their condition is reported to be critical.

PM’s Arrival: PM Modi arrived at Kolkata Airport at 10:33 AM and was formally received by State Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya and Chief Secretary Manoj Pant. He then proceeded to Taherpur via helicopter. Despite the somber atmosphere, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate projects worth ₹3,200 crore and address the gathering in the politically sensitive Matua heartland.
