Railway News: Over 12,000 Special Trains To Run From October 1 To November 15 For Festive Season, Announces Ashwini Vaishnaw

Special Train Opening Date 2025: In a bid to manage the surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festive season, the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that over 12,000 special trains will run for Diwali and Chhath Puja this year.

This move marks a significant increase from last year’s 7,724 special trains, aimed at easing ticket booking and ensuring a convenient travel experience for passengers.

Special Train To Run From THIS Date

– Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that this year’s festive season special trains will operate from October 1, 2025, to November 15, 2025, Navbharat Times reported.

– At least 12,000 special trains will run during this period for passengers.

– Additionally, Indian Railways has decided to keep a separate fleet of 200 non-reservation passenger trains in reserve and deploy them on routes experiencing higher demand to accommodate festive travellers.

Preparation Underway For Increased Passenger Traffic

– The Indian Railways is taking proactive measures to manage the increased passenger traffic during the festive season.

– According to reports, the officials have begun work on creating both permanent and temporary holding areas at key railway stations across the country, including New Delhi, Nizamuddin, Ghaziabad, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Lucknow, and Patna, as these stations are expected to witness heavy crowds during the festive season.

– At New Delhi Railway Station, these holding areas are being constructed at the Ajmeri Gate side to ensure smooth crowd management.

India’s First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train To Be Launched On THIS Route

India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train service is likely to be launched on the Delhi-Bihar route, NDTV reported. However, there is no official confirmation yet, but the Vande Bharat Sleeper train is likely to be rolled out soon.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper train will significantly reduce travel time between Patna and Delhi to 11.5 hours, down from the current 14-15 hours. The semi-high-speed train is expected to run at a speed of 130 kilometres per hour with a 10 to 15 per cent increase in the fare.
