Refusal to Play Against India in the T20 World Cup: What Warning Has Kapil Dev Issued to Pakistan?

Sports: Former Indian captain Kapil Dev has issued a strong warning over Pakistan’s decision to boycott the group-stage match against India in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Kapil Dev said that if the match against India, scheduled for February 15, is not played, it will be a major setback for Pakistan cricket. He warned that the country’s image would suffer significantly. He also added that such a move would negatively impact the future of young Pakistani players who dream of playing in the World Cup.

Expressing concern, Kapil Dev said that forced decisions taken at the board level have long-term consequences for players.
“If players themselves take such a decision, they can come forward and say so. But when the board decides that players will not play, it damages the country’s reputation. This is not right for Pakistan,” he said.

He further noted that Pakistan has produced many outstanding cricketing talents over the years. “But if such players are not allowed to play in the World Cup, then it is an injustice to the game and to their own players,” Kapil Dev added.

Pakistan, which is set to participate in the T20 World Cup, announced on Sunday that it will not play its match against India in Colombo. This decision came after the ICC rejected Bangladesh’s request to shift its World Cup matches against India out of the country, citing security reasons.
