Samsung’s likely to launch the triple fold phone, expected to be called Galaxy G Fold

Korean smartphone giant Samsung teased an exciting new concept: a tri-fold smartphone at the Galaxy Unpacked recently. This innovative design has generated quite a buzz since last year when Huawei introduced the Mate XT Ultimate with three foldable screens.

Now, in the latest development from Korea, a new leak sheds light on the name of the company’s tri-fold phone along with fresh details about its hardware.

Samsung triple-fold smartphone to be named ‘Galaxy G Fold’: Key details

According to well-known tipster Yeux1122, who shares insights on the South Korean blog Naver, Samsung may name its triple-folding smartphone the ‘Galaxy G Fold,’ aligning with its existing Z Fold series. The leak, which cites industry sources also matches an earlier report from display analyst Ross Young.

Previous rumours have suggested that the ‘Galaxy G Fold’ is expected to sport a 9.96-inch main screen, surpassing the 7.6-inch display on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. When folded, the phone is said to shrink to 6.54 inches, making it more compact. Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design, which employs a different folding mechanism, Samsung’s tri-fold device is tipped to feature an inward-folding display that folds from both sides.

The Galaxy G Fold is also tipped to weigh the same as the Huawei Mate XT, which scales at 298 grams. However, it is also speculated to be thicker than Huawei’s offering, possibly because of the inward folding design mechanism. Lastly, the tipster also claims that this device could launch in the third quarter of 2025.
