At the beginning of 2025, the Indian film industry is set to witness an exciting box office clash, with Sonu Sood’s Fateh and Ram Charan’s Game Changer both releasing on January 10. Despite the potential for competition, Sonu remains unfazed and confident about the prospects of both films.
In a conversation with a portal, Sonu shared his optimistic viewpoint: “Good films will always do well. There are hundreds of examples where two or three films have released on the same day, and they’ve all done well.” Sonu’s faith in the power of good cinema comes across strongly as he dismisses the notion of box office competition affecting the success of both movies. He is more focused on the quality of storytelling than the rivalry between the films.Sonu Sood

A particularly heartwarming moment from the interview comes when Sonu talks about a recent conversation with legendary actor Chiranjeevi, whom he met at an airport lounge in Bangalore. The two discussed Fateh in great detail, and Chiranjeevi expressed his genuine admiration for Sonu’s work.

“When he saw the trailer of Fateh and the rushes, he said that it’s something he has never seen before!” Sonu recalls, smiling as he shares the anecdote. In a further show of support, Chiranjeevi extended his help, saying, “I would love to promote this film. Tell me when we can do it.” Sonu’s eyes light up as he continues, “He wanted to do something very big for Fateh.” This display of camaraderie and mutual respect between industry peers reinforces Sonu’s belief that cinema is about collective growth, not competition.Sonu Sood

Sonu’s positivity extends to Game Changer as well. He wishes the team behind Game Changer all the best, stating, “I wish them all the best. May Game Changer be a game-changer for them.” He stresses that he hopes for all films to succeed, as it benefits everyone in the industry. “When our films perform well at the box office, we all do well in life,” he adds, showing a broader understanding of the interconnected nature of the film industry.

While there’s excitement around Game Changer, another major film expected to perform well at the box office is Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun. The film’s unprecedented success has raised the bar for Telugu cinema, but Sonu doesn’t feel burdened by this.

“More than Pushpa 2 raising the bar for all of us, it has reiterated the importance of putting in effort and doing one’s job sincerely,” he explains. He emphasizes that the key is telling a story well, and the audience will decide its success. “Tomorrow, you shouldn’t be looking back and regretting about the things that you could’ve done but didn’t.”

As for Fateh, Sonu reveals that the film is a “labour of love” that took three years to complete. He admits that the desire to make a film stemmed from his personal aspirations. “I was trying to do something I always wanted to,” Sonu shares candidly.Sonu Sood

Having worked with various directors and actors across different languages, Sonu feels that he had gathered the knowledge and skills necessary to step into filmmaking. “I didn’t want to become a filmmaker when I came to Mumbai, but I wanted to showcase myself in a particular way,” he explains. This desire to express himself in a new creative medium led him to write and direct Fateh, a project that is deeply personal to him.First Visit To Kotagiri?
