SRK worked 36 hours straight on Circus, reveals co-star Renuka Shahane

Veteran TV actress Renuka Shahane recently recalled working with Shah Rukh Khan on the famous television series ‘Circus’. Shah Rukh Khan was not yet a superstar in Bollywood, but was already a face in the television industry.

In a conversation with Filmfare, Shahane praised the superstar’s unmatched dedication, revealing that he once worked for 36 hours straight during the show’s shoot.

Describing his energy and professionalism, she said, “Maine usko 36 ghante tak kaam karte dekha hai (I’ve seen him work for 36 hours straight). We had two units – one handled by Kundan, the other by Aziz – and Shah Rukh was in practically every frame. Still, not a wrinkle on his face. He never complained.”

Shahane also shared how SRK offered her confidence during a fearful moment on set. “I was really scared, especially because I had to shoot with Kundan. Then, Shah Rukh came up to me and said, ‘Listen, you are an actor. If the director tells you this is a well and asks you to jump, you jump. You shouldn’t think about your fear of heights and all.’ He actually works like that,” she recalled.

Before becoming the King of Bollywood,Shah Rukh Khan was a rising starin Indian television with shows like ‘Fauji’, ‘Dil Dariya’, ‘Doosra Keval’, and ‘Circus’. ‘Circus’ was directed by Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah. Shah Rukh Khan shared the screen with actors like Renuka Shahane, Ashutosh Gowariker, and Makrand Deshpande in the series. Released in 1989, Shah Rukh Khan played the role of Shekharan Rai and Renuka Shahane as Maria.
