Truly heavenly: Lalit Modi in Vanuatu post as country moves to cancel his passport

Fugitive businessman and Indian Premier League (IPL) founder Lalit Modi on Monday posted pictures of himself in Vanuatu, even after the island nation moved to cancel his newly acquired passport.
Amid the raging row over his Vanuatu passport, Modi reached the island nation and urged people to come visit it. Taking to X, Modi said: “Vanuatu a beautiful country. You must put on your bucket list. Away from all the pollution and noise. Truly heavenly country.”
After surrendering his Indian passport at the Indian High Commission in London, Modi had reportedly acquired the citizenship of Vanautu.
However, Modi ran into fresh troubles as Vanuatu Prime Minister Jotham Napat directed the Citizenship Commission to cancel his newly-accquired citizenship.
“I have instructed the Citizenship Commission to immediately begin proceedings to cancel Lalit Modi’s Vanuatu passport,” Vanuatu’s PM Napat said in an official statement.
The former IPL boss, who is believed to have been residing in London before moving to Vanuatu, is wanted in India and is described as an economic offender by Indian probe agencies.
