Tulsi Vivah 2025: Date, Shubh Muhurat, Rituals And Significance

In Hinduism, Tulsi is considered an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi and is also called Vishnupriya. Every year, on the day after Dev Uthani Ekadashi, Tulsi Vivah is celebrated.
In some regions, this is celebrated for 5 days, and ends on the full moon day of Kartik month. Across India, married women perform Tulsi Vivah for the well-being of their husbands and family members.
It is said that on the day before Tulsi Vivah, during Dev Uthani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu awakens from his four-month-long Kshira Nidra (divine sleep). The day he wakes up marks the start of all auspicious activities in India, especially the wedding season.

How Is Tulsi Vivah Performed?
On this day, one should first wake up during Brahma Muhurta (the most auspicious time), take a bath, and then, with the sound of conch and bells, recite mantras to awaken Lord Vishnu. After this, his worship is performed. In the evening, lamps are lit in homes and temples, and at dusk (Godhuli Vela), the wedding of Lord Shaligram and Mother Tulsi is conducted.
As per Drik Panchang, Vrindavan and Mathura also see Tulsi Vivah performed with great fervour. “Devotees observe a fast for the entire day and organise the wedding ceremony in the evening. On this day, Tulsi Vivah is celebrated with great pomp in Krishna temples. Tableaus of Thakurji along with Goddess Tulsi are made in temples and grand celebrations are organised. All the wedding rituals like Haldi, Mehndi, Jaimala, Pheras and Baraat etc. are followed just like in a real wedding. A circle of Tulsi is mandatory in all ancient Krishna temples in Vrindavan . Even offerings to Lord Thakur are not made without Tulsi.”

It is said that performing Tulsi Vivah prevents problems in married life. In fact, worshipping Tulsi on this day helps create opportunities for marriage for people who are facing delays.
