Watch- Mohammed Siraj loses cool at Umpire, then fights teammates!! ICC ban possible?

The Lord’s Test has already witnessed immense action as well as drama throughout the first two days of the third match. From drop catches to disagreement with umpires, from injury scares to the Lord’s honours board, this test has been a total entertainer.

India opted to bowl at Lord’s as Shubman Gill won the toss. England did not step back despite Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the Indian lineup, as he took the new ball with Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, the two quicks who won India the Edgbaston test with the ball.

However, Mohammed Siraj did not have the best of outings at Lord’s on Day 1, while his fate landed him in more frustration on Day 2, as multiple catches were dropped off his bowling. He also indulged in a disagreement with the field umpire over the new ball.

Mohammed Siraj looked dissatisfied with the second new ball

Mohammed Siraj looked visibly frustrated as he took up the second new ball with Jasprit Bumrah. Many other players seemed quite disappointed with it, like India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, as well as skipper Shubman Gill.

Siraj, while finding no seam off the ball, walked up to the umpire at the non-striker’s end and asked him, ‘Is it 10-over-old ball? Seriously?’

He then complained further that there is no seam, nothing on the ball. India looked visibly distressed by the second new ball’s replacement just 10.3 overs into its life on the second morning of the Lord’s Test.

Siraj unleashes fury on Indian fielders

Mohammed Siraj did not have as successful an outing at Lord’s in the first innings as he had with the ball in the Edgbaston test, where he picked a 6-fer after a long span in test cricket.

Last time, in 2021, when India toured England, Mohammed Siraj featured in the Lord’s test as India’s fourth seamer, despite which he was the highest wicket-taker in the match and played a crucial role in India’s victory under skipper Virat Kohli.

However, this time, when some deliveries off Siraj caught the edge of the batsman and flew to the slips, catches were dropped at regular intervals again. First, KL Rahul dropped Jamie Smith at second slip, and then Dhruv Jurel dropped another of Siraj’s balls.

He turned his back on Jurel and screamed, saying, ‘Focus on the fielding,’ a fury unleashed on his players for having dropped crucial catches. Jamie Smith dropped on 5 runs and went on to score another 50, while Brydon Carse, dropped by Jurel, also scored a half-century as the two almost added 100 runs down the order.

Mohammed Siraj had the last laugh over Jamie Smith at Lord’s

After the initial turmoil, Mohammed Siraj was the one to have his last laugh over the two lower-order English batters. Jamie Smith gave England the stability they needed till lunch but was dismissed immediately after the break.

Siraj dismissed Jamie as Jurel finally held onto the ball while he broke through Brydon Carse‘s defence to help India wind up the English tail. Siraj finally returned with the figures of 23.3-6-85-2.
