Weather Update: IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert For Uttarakhand, UP; Check Forecast For Karnataka, Kerala

Weather Update:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several northern states are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming few days.

While the heavy rain is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat in states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, it might lead to issues like landslides in the hilly states, including Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The weather department stated that along with rainfall, these states are expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 60-80 kmph. It further advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several states, including Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, are likely to receive rainfall in the next few days.

Weather Update:The IMD stated that several districts of Uttarakhand have been witnessing rainfall for the past 48 hours, adding that the newly built Munsiyari-Milam highway connecting the China border in Pithoragarh has been blocked due to a rock collapse. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Dehradun, Nainital, and surrounding areas.

Apart from this, the IMD stated that the monsoon is expected to arrive in Punjab on Sunday. It further stated that several districts, including Pathankot, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Ropar, received rainfall on Saturday, and similar weather conditions are expected till June 24. Apart from this, several areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal are also likely to witness light to heavy rainfall till June 26.

The weather department stated that several districts of Bihar, including Aurangabad, Gaya, Nalanda, Siwan, Jamui, Sheikhpura, Patna’s Fatuha, Danapur, Punpun, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Madhepura, Begusarai, Saharsa, Sasaram, and Chhapra, are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall till June 24.

Weather Update:The IMD stated that while the coastal regions of the southern states are likely to receive heavy rainfall, the other parts of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall.
