Xiaomi is set to launch its flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, later this week. The phone has been surrounded by rumors for several weeks, with leaks and discussions focusing on its expected specifications. Now, the company has officially revealed the design of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, giving a first clear look at its rear panel. Along with the design, Xiaomi has also released a camera sample, highlighting the phone’s advanced photography capabilities powered by Leica. Positioned as Xiaomi’s top flagship, the 17 Ultra is being promoted with promises of cutting-edge features. Here’s a closer look at the phone’s design and camera setup.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra Design Details
Ahead of the official launch, Xiaomi has unveiled the design of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Xu Fei, Vice President of Xiaomi Group, personally revealed the design through a short video shared on Toutiao. The video offers a clear look at the phone’s design elements for the first time.
The smartphone appears in a clean white finish, giving it a premium and minimalistic look. On the rear, there is a large, centrally placed camera module, with Leica branding prominently positioned at the center of the housing. Two flash units are visible at the top of the camera module, adding to the bold design.
In terms of overall appearance, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra closely resembles the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, continuing the brand’s signature flagship design language.
Camera Setup and Leica Collaboration
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a triple rear camera setup. The main camera uses the OmniVision OV50X sensor, which is claimed to be a 1-inch sensor capable of significantly improving dynamic range and low-light performance.
Alongside the primary lens, the phone is equipped with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. According to Xiaomi, this lens module is 35 percent larger than the one used in the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. It also carries Leica APO optical certification, which helps reduce color fringing and enhances image clarity.
First Camera Sample Revealed
Xiaomi has also released the first official camera sample from the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The sample highlights the phone’s low-light photography performance, demonstrating its ability to capture detailed and well-lit images in challenging conditions.
The company stated that its deepened strategic partnership with Leica has helped push night photography and telephoto shooting to new heights in this device. Xiaomi is making bold claims about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s camera capabilities, and it remains to be seen how well the phone lives up to these promises once it officially launches.
