Automobile: 10,000 bookings in 10 days for this SUV! Major worry for Brezza, Nexon, Venue, Sonet?
The new Skoda Kylaq has garnered more than 10,000 bookings in 10 days. The Kylaq is Skoda Auto India’s first sub-4 metre compact SUV andrivals the likes ofthe Maruti Suzuki India, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO.

The Skoda Kylaq is claimed to have the lowest maintenance cost within the sub-4 metre compact SUV at Rs 0.24/km for five years, for the first 33,333 customers.
To connect with customers, Skoda will embark on an India-wide ‘Dream Tour’ with the Kylaq. Starting from the Chakan plant on December 13, three Kylaq SUVs will be heading out on three different routes covering close to 70 cities over 43 days. They will return to the plant by January 25.Automobile
The West-South route will include cities like Pune, Kolhapur, Panaji, Mangaluru, Mysuru, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The West-North route will have cities such as Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Delhi, while the third route will head East from Pune, covering cities like Nashik, Nagpur, and Kolkata.
At the heart of the Kylaq is Skoda’s 1.0-litre TSI engine, which produces 115bhp and 178Nm. The transmission options include 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT torque converter. Skoda claims that the Kylaq can reach a top speed of 188kmph and accelerate from 0-100kmph in 10.5 seconds with the manual transmission.Automobile
The Skoda Kylaq has four variants — Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige. Following are theirex-showroom prices.
- Classic MT – Rs 7.89 lakh
- Signature MT – Rs 9.59 lakh
- Signature AT – Rs 10.59 lakh
- Signature+ MT – Rs 11.40 lakh
- Signature+ AT – Rs 12.40 lakh
- Prestige MT – Rs 13.35 lakh
- Prestige AT – Rs 14.40 lakh

Skoda also announced that the Kylaq’s entry-level Classic variant is sold out and not available for booking any more.
