IND vs ENG: Meet the Noisy Indian Fielders Who Unsettled Duckett, England on Day 4 – ‘Need Earplugs’, Says Shastri

IND vs ENG: Team India’s close-in fielders turned up the volume in a big way on Day 4 of the fifth Test and targeted the England top order with their relentless chatter, verbal volleys, and sharp energy.

So, where are the ones who made England’s life miserable in the middle? With Karun Nair off the field, captain Shubman Gill, standing at first, led from the front and was the vocal leader, marshalling his troops. Alongside him, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Washington Sundar, who were especially chirpy, with most of their banter aimed squarely at Ben Duckett, who looked visibly unsettled in the middle.

Former India coach Ravi Shastri, on commentary for Sky Sports, summed up the moment with a chuckle: “I’d be after a pair of earplugs.”

India’s tactics ultimately reaped reward as Duckett, who had laid the foundation for England in their successful run chase at Headingley with a superb 149, perished for 54 as Prasidh Krishna picked him up with a fuller delivery that induced the drive and got the edge to the slip cordon, which was elated.
