VinFast, which entered the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market last year, has increased the prices of its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs. The Vietnamese EV maker has received a positive response from Indian customers, following which the company has announced a price hike ranging between ₹80,000 and ₹1.30 lakh on these models.
The VinFast VF 6 comes equipped with a 59.6 kWh battery pack, offering a driving range of around 468 km on a single charge. The electric SUV is available in three variants, and its prices have been increased by up to ₹90,000. After the revision, the starting price of the VF 6 is now ₹17.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
On the other hand, the VinFast VF 7 offers a range of approximately 532 km on a single charge. It is available with two battery options—59.6 kWh and 70.8 kWh. Positioned as a premium electric SUV, the VF 7 competes in the mid-size EV SUV segment with brands like Tata Motors and MG Motor. The price of the VF 7 has been increased by up to ₹1.30 lakh, taking its starting price to ₹21.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
In terms of sales performance, VinFast sold 826 units in India last year, significantly higher than Tesla’s 389 units during the same period.
VinFast’s manufacturing facility is located in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, with a current annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles. The company aims to expand this capacity to 1.5 lakh units per year. Recently, VinFast signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government for factory expansion, involving a total investment of USD 2 billion.
Apart from electric cars, the facility will also manufacture and test electric buses and electric scooters. VinFast is also planning to export EVs to neighboring countries and is preparing to build a strong charging infrastructure in India. Instead of focusing on expansion in North America and Europe, the company is currently aiming to strengthen its presence in Asian markets.
