Amarnath Yatra 2025: Jammu Ramps Up Facilities For Devotees Of Baba Barfani With AC Halls, Langar And More | Details

Amarnath Yatra 2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has begun preparations to welcome devotees from across India and abroad for the annual Amarnath Yatra 2025, which will be held from July 3 to August 9. Like previous years, the primary accommodation arrangements for pilgrims arriving in Jammu are being made at the base camp, Yatri Niwas in Bhagwati Nagar.

To ensure a warm welcome, the Tourism Department is actively working on enhancing facilities at Yatri Niwas. Tenders have been issued for repair work, painting, overall beautification, and the setup of a canteen. These contracts are expected to be awarded in the first week of May, with work commencing immediately afterward.

All preparations are expected to be completed by mid-June. Notably, the accommodation capacity at Yatri Niwas was expanded last year from 2,000 to 5,000, allowing for better management of the growing number of pilgrims.

A new hall and an additional shed were constructed at Yatri Niwas last year to accommodate any overflow of pilgrims beyond the existing lodging capacity.

To ensure comfort during the summer heat in Jammu, all halls at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp have been equipped with air conditioning. This upgrade aims to provide a comfortable stay for pilgrims arriving from various parts of the country.

Each devotee staying overnight at the Yatri Niwas may be required to pay a nominal fee of up to Rs 50. Additional charges will apply for amenities such as mattresses and pillows. However, the final rate list will be confirmed after the tender process is completed.

Amarnath Yatra 2025:Langar Arrangements

To ensure that pilgrims are well-fed, langar (community meals) will be organised within the premises of Yatri Niwas. The district administration will grant permission for setting up these kitchens inside the complex. In addition, langar services will also be arranged outside Yatri Niwas, with various organisations applying to the administration to operate them.

Amarnath Yatra 2025:RTC Ticket Counter At Yatri Niwas

For added convenience, a Road Transport Corporation (RTC) ticket counter will be set up within Yatri Niwas. Pilgrims will be able to book bus tickets directly from the premises. Booking services for smaller vehicles will also be available.

Moreover, devotees interested in exploring local attractions can book the Jammu Darshan bus service and tours of nearby areas through the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) counter, also located inside Yatri Niwas.

Amarnath Yatra 2025:Alternative Accommodation Plans

In the event of a temporary suspension of the Yatra due to bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the district administration and Tourism Department will collaborate with local social organisations to provide alternative lodging for the pilgrims.

Several locations across Jammu city have been identified for this purpose, including:

– Geeta Bhawan, Parade

– Agrawal Sabha, Gurdwara Sunder Singh Marg

– Mahajan Sabha, Shalamar

– Brahmana Sabha, Parade

– BC Road Temple

Additional accommodation will also be arranged in other sabhas and temples, bringing the total number of backup lodging sites to around two dozen.

These extensive preparations aim to ensure a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling experience for all devotees participating in the Amarnath Yatra 2025.
