Cyclone Senyar Strikes Indonesian Coast, To Bring Heavy Downpour In Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Kerala And Puducherry

Cyclone Senyar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that Cyclone Senyar has crossed the Indonesian coast on Wednesday morning.

The wind speed reached 70-80 kmph gusting to 90kmph. Senyar developed over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining Northeast Indonesia.

As per IMD, Senyar was centered over coastal areas of northeast Indonesia about 80 km east of Kuta Makmur (Indonesia), 280 km west of George Town (Malaysia), 580 km southeast of Nancowry (Nicobar Islands) and 730 km southeast of Car Nicobar (Nicobar Islands).

Senyar will continue with the same intensity until Thursday morning as it moves west-southwestwards. In the subsequent 24 hours, it will gradually weaken and expected to recurve eastwards.

Heavy Rain To Hit Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala And Andhra

During the subsequent 48 hours, Cyclone Senyar will intensify and move across southwest Bay of Bengal towards North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry coasts, IMD mentioned. As a result, heavy to very heavy rain is likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

Gale wind reaching 70-80 kmph, gusting to 90 kmph is expected to prevail over Strait of Malacca, Malaysia and adjoining areas of South Andaman Sea, along & off Nicobar Islands, Indonesia, and Thailand.
