Kia to unveil Syros on December 19, 3rd Kia SUV after Seltos, Sonet

Kia India will unveil the Kia Syros on December 19. It is the carmaker’s third SUV for the country after the Kia Seltos and the Kia Sonet. The Kia Syros launch in India is expected to take place in early 2025.

The Syros will feature a unique and progressive
SUV design, inspired by the EV9 and the Carnival. It includes vertically-stacked LED headlights, L-shaped LED taillights, a chunky front bumper, and a boxy shape.

The interior will boast premium features such as a panoramic sunroof
, a two-spoke flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, a dual-screen setup with touchscreen infotainment and digital driver display, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, and a wireless charger. We are expecting relatively better second-row seating in terms of space and comfort in the Syros, along with other features like ventilated seats and driver assistance systems.

The Syros is expected to come with two engine options: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (120PS/172Nm), and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (116PS/250Nm). Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. These powertrains are available with the Sonet also.

The Syros is a sub-4 metre compact SUV. While the Sonet is also a sub-4 metre compact SUV, the Syros is much taller than the Sonet, as is evident from the official teasers. For reference, the Seltos is a mid-size SUV.

The sub-4 metre compact SUV segment has
other modelslike the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and the Mahindra XUV 3XO.

Apart from the Syros, the only other sub-4 metre compact SUV to have this feature is the XUV 3XO. The Brezza, Nexon and Venue have a standard electric sunroof.

According to our sources, the Kia Syros is being positioned between the Sonet and the Seltos. While the Sonet is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 15.77 lakh (ex-showroom), the Seltos sits in the price bracket of Rs 10.90 lakh to Rs 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom).Andhra Pradesh govt extends Adani Green’s power supply deadline
