Madhya Pradesh Announces ₹40/Quintal Bonus on Wheat Procurement

Farmers to receive ₹2,625 per quintal including MSP; bonus also announced for urad procurement

Bhopal, March 7: The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a bonus of ₹40 per quintal on wheat procured from farmers. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made the announcement on Saturday, stating that the bonus will be provided in addition to the Minimum Support Price declared by the Government of India.

The central government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat at ₹2,585 per quintal. With the additional ₹40 bonus from the state government, farmers will effectively receive ₹2,625 per quintal for their wheat.

The Chief Minister said the state government remains committed to fulfilling the promise made by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly election to procure wheat at ₹2,700 per quintal. He added that the procurement price will be gradually increased to ensure that wheat growers receive ₹2,700 per quintal by 2028.

During the announcement, Yadav also declared a bonus of ₹600 per quintal on the procurement of urad to ensure farmers get a fair price for their produce.

The Chief Minister made these announcements while addressing a meeting with representatives of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh at the official Chief Minister’s residence, Samata Bhavan, in Bhopal.

He also ordered an extension of the wheat procurement registration deadline from March 7 to March 10 to allow more wheat producers to register for selling their produce to the government.
